Christmas Ticket Refunds

If you bought a walk-on ticket for travel on one of our trains between 01 December 2019 and 02 January 2020 then you may be eligible for a refund (with no admin fee) and able to book a cheaper fare, as well as reserving a seat.

How do I find out if I'm eligible

  • You booked tickets for travel between 01 December 2019 and 2 January 2020
  • All or part of your journey is on an LNER train

What do I do if I bought a ticket through LNER.co.uk

If you bought your ticket through LNER.co.uk please email customer.care@lner.co.uk with the following details:

  • Your booking reference
  • A picture of your ticket
  • Your account number and sort code for the account you wish the refund to be sent to

What do I do if I bought a ticket through another website or from the station

If you bought your ticket from another website (i.e. nationalrail.co.uk) or from a travel centre in a train station, then you will have to request your refund from them. They may charge an administration fee. However, LNER will refund customers their admin fee to allow them to rebook onto another train and allow them to reserve a seat.

To receive your admin fee refund from LNER please email customer.care@lner.co.uk with the following details:

  • A picture of your ticket
  • Evidence of the admin fee (i.e. a picture or screenshot of a receipt)
  • Your account number and sort code for the account you wish the refund to be sent to

Rebooking your ticket and reserving a seat

Once you have cancelled your ticket, you can rebook your journey on our website. When you book through our website you will be able to reserve your seats and the designated train.

Please note: we are still working hard to release tickets for dates in December and for New Years. You can find more information about which dates are not available to book on our future travel page.
