Our partnership with CALM
We're proud to have teamed up with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) who are dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK.
CALM aims to raise awareness of mental health, reduce the social stigma around it and create a culture where mental illness can be discussed openly. Statistics show that men in particular find mental health a lot more difficult to talk about than women, with 75% of all suicides being male.
This impacts our people, customers and communities and it has a significant impact on the rail industry as a whole. Sadly, over the past five years, 1350 people across the railway have taken their lives on the tracks and a further 308 people have attempted to do so.
