Tweaks to our train times

Sometimes we need to make the odd change to our schedule, for anything from engineering works to alcohol-free trains on match days. You can check if anything might affect your travel plans here.

Today's timetable changes Sunday 29 March

Amended trains between York and Darlington / Sunderland / Middlesbrough from 22:30 on Saturday 28 and all day on Sunday 29 March

Engineering work is taking place between York and Northallerton, closing some lines.

CrossCountry

Trains between Reading / Birmingham New Street and Newcastle will start from York.

Trains to / from Scotland will be amended, with southbound departures from Newcastle leaving a few minutes earlier than usual.

Grand Central

Trains will run to an amended timetable.

The 14:12 / 18:12 Sunderland to London Kings Cross are replaced by buses between Sunderland and Hartlepool.

The following trains will not run:

  • 12:12 Sunderland to London Kings Cross
  • 16:53 London Kings Cross to Sunderland

LNER

Trains will be reduced to 2 an hour and will take approximately 30 minutes longer between York and Darlington, other services will be cancelled.

TransPennine Express

From approximately 22:30 on Saturday, buses will replace TransPennine Express services between York and Darlington / Middlesbrough.

On Sunday, a reduced service will run north of York. The following alterations will apply:

  • Trains that usually run to / from Redcar Central will instead terminate at / start from Middlesbrough. Alternative train services, operated by Northern, will be available between Middlesbrough and Redcar Central.
  • Most trains from York towards Darlington and Middlesbrough will not call at Thirsk or Northallerton.
  • Trains from Darlington and Middlesbrough towards York will not call at Thirsk.
  • Buses will run between York and Darlington, calling at Thirsk and Northallerton

Amended train service to / from London Kings Cross on Sunday 29 March

Engineering work is taking place between London Kings Cross and Stevenage on Sunday, closing some lines.

Grand Central:

A reduced train service will be in operation, with trains being diverted to run via Hertford North, extending journey times by up to 20 minutes.

The following trains will not run:

  • 12:12 Sunderland to London Kings Cross
  • 15:08 Bradford Interchange to London Kings Cross
  • 16:53 London Kings Cross to Sunderland
  • 18:53 London Kings Cross to Bradford Interchange

Hull Trains:

Train services will be diverted to run via Hertford North, slightly extending journey times. Services will be retimed to run earlier or later than usual, and will run to amended timetables.

Great Northern:

Until 08:45 - Trains will not run between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross. If you are travelling between these stations you should use London Underground services to complete your journey.

All day - Buses will replace trains between Stevenage and Hertford North / Welwyn Garden City and Alexandra Palace.

Trains between Cambridge / Kings Lynn / Peterborough and London will be diverted via Hertford North, not calling at stations between Stevenage and Alexandra Palace via Welwyn Garden City.

LNER:

Trains will run an amended timetable, with fewer trains than usual running to / from London Kings Cross. Trains that do run will be diverted to run via Hertford North, extending journey times by up to 20 minutes. Other trains will be cancelled or will start / terminate outside London Kings Cross.

Thameslink:

Until 08:45 - Trains will not run between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross, if you are travelling between these stations you should use London Underground services to complete your journey.

All day - Buses will replace trains between Stevenage / Welwyn Garden City and Alexandra Palace and also between Stevenage and Hertford North.

Trains between Peterborough and London will be diverted via Hertford North, extending the overall journey time.

Trains  between Cambridge and London will be amended to run between Cambridge and Stevenage only.

Buses replace trains between Inverkeithing and Markinch on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March

Engineering work is taking place between Inverkeithing and Markinch, closing the line.

Caledonian Sleeper:

Trains will be diverted between Edinburgh and Aberdeen via but not calling at Dunfermline and will not call at Kirkcaldy.

There is no alternative transport and customers should use ScotRail train / bus services to complete their journey.

CrossCountry:

Buses will replace trains between Inverkeithing and Markinch. Customers may have to change buses at Kirkcaldy to complete their journey.

LNER:

Trains are diverted between Edinburgh and Dundee and will not call at Inverkeithing, Kirkcaldy and Leuchars. 

Replacement buses will run between Edinburgh and Dundee calling at Inverkeithing, Kirkcaldy and Leuchars. 

ScotRail:

Buses will replace trains between Inverkeithing and Markinch. On Saturday, buses will replace trains between Inverkeithing and Glenrothes with Thornton via Kirkcaldy, and between Inverkeithing and Cowdenbeath on Sunday.

Train services between Edinburgh and Perth / Dundee / Arbroath / Aberdeen / Inverness will be diverted to run via Dunfermline Town, with some services making additional stops. A shuttle train service will run between Edinburgh and Inverkeithing.
