Train Operators Unite For York Pride
30/05/2026

LNER (London North Eastern Railway) joined more colleagues from across the rail industry than ever before to celebrate York Pride this weekend (30 May 2026).
Having supported the city’s annual Pride celebrations for several years, LNER colleagues walked side-by-side with teams from fellow train operators TransPennine Express and Northern. This year they were joined by representatives from Network Rail and the National Railway Museum, marking an even broader show of support from across the industry.
In total, more than 100 colleagues from across the railway took part in the celebrations.

York has strong links with the railway, with LNER headquartered in the city and the National Railway Museum also based there. TransPennine Express, Northern and Network Rail also have a presence in York, further strengthening the city’s role as a hub for the railway community.

This show of unity comes at an important time for the rail sector, as the industry continues its journey towards Great British Railways. Colleagues coming together at Pride reflects the spirit of unity and shared purpose that is set to underpin the future of the railway.

Carter Goodby, Chair of Together, the LNER LGBTQIA+ Network, said:
York Pride is a really important moment for us to stand together with colleagues from across the railway and show our shared commitment to creating an inclusive environment for everyone. It’s fantastic to see so many organisations united in York, celebrating diversity and demonstrating the values that will shape the future of our industry.
A spokesperson for DFTO (DfT Operator Limited), the government’s public sector rail owning group, said:
Colleagues from across the industry uniting at York Pride highlights the collaborative spirit that is shaping the future of our railways.
DFTO and our operators are working closely with Network Rail to build a more integrated, inclusive network as we accelerate towards Great British Railways. Creating a culture where everyone feels they belong is central to that ambition, because when our people thrive, we can deliver a better railway for everyone in Britain.
