Tea Before Tee: LNER Opens New First Class Lounge at Leuchars Station

A new First Class Lounge is now open for LNER customers travelling to and from Leuchars station in Fife.

Around 175,000 customers travel each year on 52 LNER services per week to or from Leuchars, with many of those using the station as the main hub to access the world-famous St Andrews golf course nearby.

The new lounge provides First Class customers with a comfortable, warm place to relax ahead of their LNER train journey, as well as being stocked with complimentary refreshments, and featuring specially commissioned artwork based on the local area.

It was officially opened on Thursday 8 October 2026, in a special ceremony, by renowned chef, Dean Banks, who has several high-quality restaurants locally and across Scotland. Guests from across the rail industry and the local area joined senior LNER colleagues to experience the new lounge.

Graeme McKinnie, Regional Station Manager for LNER in Scotland, said: “We are thrilled to have opened our new First Class Lounge in Leuchars, which is a very popular and important destination for us and our customers. Leuchars is the second busiest station north of Edinburgh for LNER.

“We have worked closely with local partners to open this new lounge and deliver the benefits that it brings for both leisure and business travellers. Our hope is that the space will further enhance our customers’ experiences while travelling by train, providing a warm, welcoming area to relax ahead of their journey.”

The opening of the First Class Lounge will provide the station with a regular LNER colleague presence, allowing customers to seek support or ask questions, if required, in advance of their journey.
