LNER Launches New Super-Low Fares To Leeds

LNER is launching a new coach-combatting early-bird fare from London to Leeds, meaning customers can travel between the two cities in a little over two hours for just £12.

Customers with a railcard* can secure tickets for an incredible £8 - perfect for students and savvy savers. For travellers heading from Leeds to London, there’s also a night-owl evening £12 fare as part of the new trial.

The super low prices are the cheapest LNER fares that have been seen between Leeds and London for almost twenty years. December 2025 saw the launch of the biggest timetable change in more than a decade on the East Coast Main Line, which offered more seats, more trains and the opportunity for even more of the best value fares.

Taking the train takes half the time of a coach, with a more comfortable journey, and food and drink available to be delivered to customers’ seats. Customers are advised to secure their seats early by booking in advance.

Leeds is home to several leading cultural spots, including Leeds Art Gallery which hosts a broad collection of twentieth century works, the Royal Armouries Museum, four major theatres, a world-class arena and numerous independent venues.

LNER Beryl Bikes and E-scooters can also be found outside Leeds Railway Station, offering a convenient, sustainable and fun way to explore the city.

David Flesher, Commercial Director at LNER, said:

With our new super low fares, we’re taking on coach firms by offering a speedier alternative at an incredible price.

Whether it’s immersing yourself in culture at Leeds Art Gallery, visiting the Trinity Centre for some retail therapy, or catching a show at one of the many brilliant venues across the city, there's plenty to tempt Londoners to come back to Leeds again and again. So, if you’ve always thought of seeing what Leeds has to offer, now is the perfect time to do so.

Tracey Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, said:

Leeds is one of the UK’s great cities, with a thriving cultural scene, outstanding shopping, world-class events and a welcoming Yorkshire spirit. These new super-low fares from LNER make it even easier and more affordable for people to discover everything our region has to offer.

By improving access to Leeds and West Yorkshire, and encouraging more people to choose rail, this initiative supports our ambitions to boost tourism, attract visitors and support businesses across West Yorkshire.

Belinda Eldridge, Head of Visit Leeds, said:

Whether you're planning a weekend break, a day of shopping, a cultural escape or a night out, Leeds is the perfect city break. From award-winning restaurants and independent bars to iconic attractions and live entertainment, the city continues to attract visitors from across the UK.

These fantastic value fares provide even more reason for people to experience Leeds for themselves, making it easier than ever to enjoy everything our vibrant city has to offer.
