      Explore the city like never before

      The Lit and Phil

      The Lit and Phil Library is an independent library (the biggest outside of London) right in the heart of Newcastle. But there is more than meets the eye here. The stunning Georgian building boasts a massive music library with over 10,000 LP’s available – it’s also used as a venue for music and literature events – check out their events programme before visiting.

      Jesmond Dene

      Jesmond Dene

      Escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre for the tranquil green space that is Jesmond Dene. There you can see wildlife running through the trees, babbling brooks, mini waterfalls, and plenty of lush places to throw down a blanket and have a spot to eat. It also has a Pets’ Corner which will keep the little ones entertained for hours.

      Ice-dip Social

      Rejuvenate your body with a cold plunge in the North Sea. Many people wouldn’t even contemplate entering the freezing water, but from November to March you can take an ice-dip into the cold North Sea, followed up by a Finnish tent sauna. And while you’re heating up, you can sample some flame cooked local foods on the beach. Braving the cold might just be worth it.

      Mother Mercy

      Mother Mercy is a certified hidden gem of Newcastle. Dubbed the ‘hidden bar’, it’s a cocktail and wine bar right in the city centre that sits underground in the Bigg Market. Inside you can find fun and games to go along with your drink. But it can only host up to 30 lucky guests who manage to find it – so don’t go spreading the word!

      Brunch at Kiln, a unique ceramic cafe

      Kiln is a unique restaurant with its own ceramic studio on site. Tucked away on a little street in Ouseburn, the stylishly rustic venue and delicious food make this a must try place. The studio makes stylish ceramics for high-end restaurants across the UK, and diners can get a free 45-minute pottery session – just ask one of the members of staff.

      Bealim House gin tasting

      Bealim House offers gin lovers with the chance to sample a few of the distilleries finest products. You’ll learn about the process and the history of the distillery before trying some of their own gin. Afterwards, you can relax in the bar and have a few more glasses and something to eat. Gin tasting places are limited so check their website for their available slots.
