Darlington Station to Welcome 'Inspiration' Exhibition Train

A unique exhibition train which brings to life the past, present and future of the railway is set to call at Darlington Station next month.

Railway 200’s Inspiration will arrive at Darlington on Wednesday 10 September 2025 and will spend a week telling the rich history of 200-years of engineering firsts and world-changing innovation.

The train also champions the future of rail, with an interactive, hands-on ‘Wonderlab on Wheels’ exhibition. Curated in partnership with the National Railway Museum, Inspiration invites visitors to test their engineering skills, highlights the variety of roles available in the rail industry, as well as the wide range of opportunities on offer to the next generation.

Ed Turner, Senior Public Affairs Manager at LNER, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Inspiration to Darlington Station, a special location steeped in railway history. The free exhibition has something for everyone, taking visitors on a 200-year journey of discovery and ingenuity. It also provides an exciting glimpse into the future of rail and the opportunities available to shape the next 200-years.”

To book tickets visit Welcome to Inspiration – Railway 200. The train is accessible, and to enable quality experience and time to enjoy the displays, visits are structured in 15-minute intervals.
