London North Eastern Railway (LNER) has today launched its First Class Christmas menu, which for the first time ever includes a festive cocktail.
The blood orange Christmas Cosmo has been handcrafted exclusively for LNER by Tom Savano and includes zesty lime, cranberry and crisp vodka. The festive flavours make it the perfect tipple for your travels this winter. For those who want something more warming, there’ll also be a comforting apple and sweet cinnamon tea produced by Taylors of Harrogate.
Available until 3 January 2024, the delicious dishes include a turkey and cranberry ‘sausage’ roll, topped with sage and black onion seeds and served with an orange, spiced carrot and pumpkin Christmas ketchup. There is also a cheese and Christmas slaw sandwich served on malted wheat grain bread. Those looking for something even more decadent can indulge in ravioli pasta pillows filled with creamy burrata, truffle and a spinach sauce.
Passengers can round off their meal with a heavenly dessert pot of smooth, rich chocolate and hazelnut or a portion of Baileys Chocolate Truffles.
As always, the provenance of the dishes remains paramount and LNER is proud to support local suppliers along the breadth of its east coast route. This includes companies in London, York and Newcastle, all of which have been chosen for their passion in creating quality produce that uses exceptional, locally sourced ingredients.
Richard Judge, Head of Customer Experience at LNER, said “Nothing helps you get into the spirit of Christmas quite like food and drink and this menu provides passengers with a complimentary festive feast. Thanks to a dedicated team at LNER, it features some of the finest culinary suppliers from across our route and we’re proud to be supporting local businesses. The customer experience is a priority to us and the delicious dishes onboard are just one of the ways we can ensure a pleasant journey for our passengers travelling this winter.”
Customers in Standard can also sample a variety of foods through LNER’s ‘Let’s Eat At Your Seat’ service, including a ham and Christmas slaw sandwich, truffle crisps and Yummycomb – a sharing bag of honeycomb pieces enrobed in dark chocolate orange, which is made locally in York and is both vegan and gluten-free.
