Elland Road Stadium is located just outside of Leeds city centre and opened in 1897, making it one of the oldest football stadiums still in use in England. Elland Road is now home to Leeds United Football Club which has played there since 1919. Before this, the stadium was home to several other sports teams including Leeds City Football Club and Holbeck Rugby Club.
Elland Road has a capacity of around 37,500 seats across four main stands, and the official Leeds United flagship store is located in the southeast corner. Where is Elland Road Stadium?
Elland Road Stadium is located in Beeston, just outside Leeds, West Yorkshire. It is two miles southwest of Leeds city centre and is well connected by road with the M621 nearby. It is also well served by public transport with several bus routes from Leeds city centre.
How do I get to Elland Road Stadium?
There are several ways to get to Elland Road including by car and train. If you are coming by train the nearest station is Leeds Railway Station, just two miles away. Leeds Station is accessible, directly from several major cities on LNER routes including York, London and Edinburgh.
From Leeds Station, there are several, regular bus services to Elland Road which take around 30 minutes. On match days shuttle buses are available from Sovereign Street, outside Cafe Nero, in Leeds city centre to the stadium and run from 90 before the match starts. Other options include a 10-minute taxi ride or a 45-minute walk.
If you are travelling by car the stadium is located close to the M621 motorway with both Junctions 1 and 2 providing direct access to the stadium. On match days there is dedicated parking just opposite the stadium; exit Junction 2 of the M621 and follow the signs for matchday parking. There are several park-and-ride services including Temple Green and Stourton Park. Tickets must be purchased in advance for both of these. Other parking options include Leeds City Council-run car parks and limited on-street parking.

From Leeds Railway Station there are several ways to get to Elland Road including by:
Bus: There are several bus routes including the 51, 52 and 55 which run to Elland Road and take approximately 25-30 minutes.
Taxi: The easiest but most expensive way to get from Leeds Station to Elland Road is by taxi. It takes around 10 minutes but costs around £20.
Walking: You can walk from Leeds Station to Elland Road; it is two miles away and takes 45 minutes to an hour.
Shuttle: You can get a shuttle bus from Sovereign Street to Elland Road on matchdays. Sovereign Street is an 8-minute walk from the station and the pickup location is outside Cafe Nero.
Top tips for visiting Elland Road
The stadium is outdoors and Leeds' weather can be unpredictable, especially in the winter so be sure to dress up warm.
Bags larger than A4 are not permitted inside and there are no luggage storage facilities so be sure to take a small bag if you need one.
Kiosks sell food and drinks inside and outside the stadium, including alcohol but this is not permitted in the seating areas.
Away fans sit in the South Stand and enter the stadium at turnstile entrances 1 and 2.
Elland Road is a cashless stadium and only card payments will be accepted in the stadium.
