Fact about Aviemore
Aviemore was the first skiing resort ever to be established in the UK
Things to do in Aviemore
Thanks to its wintery climate and long-lasting snows, Aviemore is home to one of Scotland’s best ski resorts. You can rent ski and snowboard gear in town and take the Cairngorm Mountain funicular railway to the top of the slopes. Skiers recommend the White Lady piste for clear Highland views, or Aladdin’s Couloir for some off-piste exhilaration.
In summer, hiking and camping are excellent ways to explore the natural beauty of the Cairngorms. Cycle or run through the trees on winding forest trails or join the climbers and hikers taking on the mountains. For something a little less strenuous, rent a canoe or a stand-up paddleboard and enjoy a day out on the calm waters of Loch Morlich.
