Tweaks to our train times

Sometimes we need to make the odd change to our schedule, for anything from engineering works to alcohol-free trains on match days. You can check if anything might affect your travel plans here.

Today's timetable changes Sunday 19 January

Engineering work will be taking place all day between Stevenage and Peterborough on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January 2020

An approximately hourly service will operate in both directions between London King’s Cross and the North East across most of the day.  Trains will take a diversionary route between Peterborough and Stevenage and journey times will be extended by approximately 60 minutes. The majority of services to and from Leeds will start from and terminate at Peterborough and there will be fewer services than normal.  A small number of services will start from and terminate at other locations.  A significantly reduced service will operate to and from Peterborough, Grantham, Newark North Gate and Retford. 

We strongly advise that you check in advance using our online Journey Planner to see how your journey will be affected. 

Trains will be busier than usual, we recommend you reserve a seat.

Do not travel to or from London on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January

There will be no trains to and from London King’s Cross on the 25 and 26 January because of Network Rail track upgrade work. We strongly advise you DO NOT TRAVEL TO OR FROM LONDON.

Buses replace trains between Dundee and Aberdeen on Sunday 19 January

Engineering work is taking place between Dundee and Aberdeen, closing all lines.

Caledonian Sleeper:

The 21:43 Aberdeen to London Euston service will start from Dundee. A replacement bus will run from Aberdeen to Dundee to connect with the train, calling at Stonehaven, Montrose, Arbroath and Carnoustie.

CrossCountry / ScotRail:

Buses will replace trains between Dundee and Aberdeen.

LNER

Trains to / from Aberdeen will start / terminate at Dundee or Edinburgh. Alternative travel arrangements to be confirmed.

Amended service to / from London Kings Cross on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 January

Engineering work is taking place between Hitchin and Biggleswade, and also in the Kings Cross area, closing some lines.

Both Grand Central and Hull Trains will run amended timetables, with a reduced service. Trains will be diverted to run via Cambridge (not stopping), extending journey times.

Great Northern

Buses will replace trains between Hitchin and Peterborough. Journey planners show the requirement to change buses at St Neots and Huntingdon. This will not be necessary in many cases. Station staff or bus drivers will advise you if you are required to change buses.

Trains between London Kings Cross and Hitchin will also run to a reduced timetable.

LNER:

LNER will operate an hourly service to / from London Kings Cross. Other trains will start / terminate at Peterborough / Doncaster and Newcastle or cancelled.

Thameslink

Buses will replace trains between Hitchin and Peterborough. Journey planners show the requirement to change buses at St Neots and Huntingdon. This will not be necessary in many cases. Station staff or bus drivers will advise you if you are required to change buses.

Trains between Horsham and Peterborough are diverted to run between Horsham and Letchworth Garden City.

Trains between London Kings Cross and Hitchin / Cambridge / Kings Lynn will also run to a reduced timetable.
