The lovey-dovey feelings of Valentine’s aren’t for everyone. So we’ve collected together some great events and activities up and down the East Coast for when love isn’t in the air.
The perfect antidote to smoochiness, Pop Horror is hosting the Anti-Valentine Ball at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern . So grab your mates, head down and enjoy a night of fun and frolics as you dance the night away. Expect live music and cabaret, all this and more hosted by some fabulous drag queens. London Dungeon lates with cocktails
Experience the London Dungeon after hours with the first late of 2019. Spend your evening in the historic streets of Jack the Ripper, beginning at a Victorian Gin Palace with a complimentary gin fizz with Sweeny Todd and Mrs Lovett followed by a drink in the Ten Bells served by the landlady. The finale is an exhilerating drop ride which may leave you in need of a stiff drink, luckily for you the dungeon Tavern awaits.

Skating at Life
The festival period might be over but there's still plenty of time to enjoy a hot drink with your friends at the open-air ice rink at the Centre for Life. Grab your mates for a spin around the ice and make the most of your trip with a combo ticket to visit the Life Science Centre's 4D Motion Ride, amazing planetarium, live theatre shows and brilliant hands-on activities.

Kung Hey Fat Choi!
It’s more than just Valentine’s in February. Join the celebrations in and around Newcastle’s as the Year of the Pig is ushered in with events and performances marking Chinese New Year. Watch the spectacular dragon and lion dances under the ornate ceremonial arch or take part in traditional crafts and dances before enjoying food and drink at the vibrant and colourful party.

Spark joy in York
Spark:York is the new indie spot in town. Grab your friends and spend Valentine's together in and amongst the street feed, independent venders and cosy fairy lights. The newly installed roof and outdoor heaters and blankets will keep you snug so you can enjoy a beverage and bite to eat whatever the weather. The food venders can change but our experience is that there's always a selection of the tasty dishes, from burgers to Thai cuisine, to suit even the fussiest of friends.

Beer heaven at the Brew York beer hall
Brew York might be another play on New York - but this is a not-to-be-missed Old York special. The tap room and beer hall is the perfect location to pile your pals into a long table in the heart of the atmosphere for the freshest beers and burgers in town. With a selection of over 50 cask ales, IPAs, porters and more to try from, you're sure to find your Fairlytale of Brew York.
